Chapter 3 is interesting because we go from pretty straight forward concepts to a more broad “Is it immoral for marginalized people to diminish themselves and unconsciously deceive themselves into believing they are unable to liberate themselves systemic discrimination. Also can we truly liberate ourselves if we don’t de program ourselves from institutional violence we apply to other marginalized groups”

It’s interesting to interrogate Jesus as a salve against fear since that isn’t such a platitude but many people of faith also rely on it heavily
I also like that we are acknowledging that segregation inherently has a marginalized and empowered group and it’s not just strict separate spheres devoid of political weight

I like that this section reinforces Jesus as coming from an occupied territory like the more contemporary Japanese occupation of Korea. But there is still an valid lens for Black people who experience a white nationalist nation in the form of America that doesn’t reinforce their right to have a distinct culture
