Status Updates From Batman: Year One

As I'm reading the comics I think I'm gonna point out my favourite sassy Alfred moments.

Sassy Alfred #1
"Master Bruce -- I've just come across a *fascinating* piece in the Times. Concerns the effects of lack of sleep among the marginally sane... 'Marked increase of paranoia'... Hmm... 'Tendency toward aberrant even violent behavior'"

Sassy Alfred #2 (on the same page)
"Off again sir? Shall I fetch your tights?"

6 pages in and a cop just assaulted a Black teen for no reason, saying he had a weapon on him that turned out to be a comb.

"I'm only human" as if that's an excuse for brutality.

I got visceral flashbacks to The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas reading this.

This is the first step in my comic book journey and I'm already appreciating the storytelling and nuance I can find between the lines.

Was due for a re-read

Batman has found his method of taking down the different ranks of corruption and criminality in Gotham but has been caught in a firebombed building with civilians after a last ditch attempt from the GCPD to stop him.

Really excited to be re-reading this novel and continuing it with The man Who Laughs and Jeph Loeb’s run of Batman!

Narrating the city of Gotham through the perspective on the newly arrived Bruce Wayne and Lieutenant Gordon as he joins the ranks of Commissioner Loeb and Lieutenant Flass. He attempts to expose corruption in the GCPD through his unwavering moral compass to accept bribes and shady deals.
