‘being rejected by him made her feel inferior everywhere’ This book is doing a bit too much!!

On page two the main character compares herself to a horse that should be pulling a cart at a farm because she has hairy legs, at the end of winter. And this book is written by a woman, in 2022. I hope this is not a trend for the rest of the book, otherwise this will be my first DNF of the year.
