This story loves to say the same thing over and over again, rendering the attempts at a story between each “if albaric goes, I go with him” moment completely fruitless

“I know because I know you.”
Can people just write in 3rd person omniscient?

I love how the book built up to the protagonist’s journey for acceptance, only for him to go running straight home again and erase multiple chapters worth of some of the only development this book has truly had

The plot here is hard to parse? There’s a clear overarching emotional conflict but each chapter is otherwise just a new adventure between Aric and the elusive Albaric. It’s not the epic fantasy the praise and description promises.

Hey why does the first person narration stutter so often? Like Aric speaks confidently in dialogue but his internal narration stutters a lot???

The romance in this book is very concerning. Aric falling for a 14 year old girl, (13 when they met) is wild. This entire story line is validating grooming. He continuously says “I can see the woman she’ll become”. I understand this author wrote this somewhat as a period piece and put the ages the way that time did then tried to justify it. There would’ve been nothing lost if she made the girl 18 years old.
