Status Updates From Rescue Run

The stranded colonists swear they are the only ones left of the original colonists, left on Pern. The space crew sent in to survey the planet and rescue anyone who was still there if they needed rescuing, was finally convinced and left with about 7 people. Sadly there were other survivors who actually saw the space ship leaving the planet. This is where one of the books in the Pern series, picks up.

I think I have read this before...perhaps in an anthology. I remembered the storyline once I was into it. This is a short story, in part, as it is part of the Dragons of Pern series. The story takes place, I believe, not too many generations after the colonists first arrived on Pern. The book contains black and white illustrations on some pages and a block print with the story centered, on all the other pages.
