Status Updates From The Dark Heart of Redemption

Review Copy - The writing shows some potential, but I agree with my earlier thoughts about it being more sequel than standalone, and since I've not read the preceding book, I'm going to stop here. I may pick up the first book at a later point to see what the author is truly capable of.

Review Copy - I was told by the author that this is a standalone, but the only qualifier for that seems to be a brief introduction with every character name "John Doe, who did [narratively important thing] recently and is now [fantasy title] of [place]". It also has reoccurring issues with run-on sentences, so I'm not sure if I'll finish it. Going to pick it back up tomorrow and make a decision.
