Fun fact...
Did you know a part of the peace treaty between Ramsess II and the Hittite king Hattusili from 1259 BC is inscribed above the UN Security Council assembly hall doors? That was the one that brought an end to the squabbles between the two countries.

The Hittites did an interesting mix of diplomacy, treaties, viceroy kingdoms, vassal states and militarily kicking the ever lovin' tar out of people now and again.
And that one single dynasty ruled for all of their 500 year history....not too shabby!

After a mad rush through king war king king king war war king war king...you know the drill...we're now at laws and what they tell us about the culture. Very interesting.
Best for me are events on the Hittite side of Prince Zann's murder. We know the Egyptian side (GUILTY!!) but what was happening back in Turkey? Wow, even more interesting than Egyptian intrigue!

Chatty tone, but with the academic's tendency to start with a blizzard of details and only pull back and give you the big picture/basics much later. Frustrating. Still, easy to read and informative, even if a little dry.
I wish he'd give dates instead of saying "the early part of the 15th century". Okay when we're talking AD, but not so much when it's BC. Confusing.
