False alarm , but damn, what an eventful life. Reconnecting with Raphaella was a great conflict between being unable to be together and also poor Frannie as the poor substitute. It’s nice to see an elderly perspective on love and life and how Cashel spends his time.

The artifact smuggling arc, less compelling, but not all of them can be bangers

He just dies?! Crazy work, but it really is one hell of a journey. Ups, downs, and misfortunes—and yet there is the air of adventurous romance that comes with the hardship.

It’s a story that spans a whole life, from ignorant childhood, to inspirited teen flying the nest, to the lurid escapades and affairs, to new adventures and marriage, then the falling apart of that. Always an adventure it seems.

A lovely wholesome reprieve! The start of a new chapter of Cashel in America—has that inspiring feeling of a fresh start. Also Cashel’s marriage to Brid, very cute. And still thinks about Raphaella, but America seems to make it take backseat.

It’s refreshing after the whole drama with debtor’s prison/being scammed and the mess of affairs in Italy. Really is a romantic story

Love lost and the tortured soul of Cashel as he tangles with his parting with Raphaella. A bit of going crazy and his regret.

At the same time also get a strong feeling of wanderlust from Cashel. He seems a sort of restless in that his journey must go on whatever that journey may be.

Captures the spectrum from the military time to the domestic drama at Casa Magni. The relationships are interesting even if observation rather than deeply inhabited.

And i resonate with Cashel embarking on this journey to figuring himself out and along the way getting wrapped up in others’ affairs. Also seeing the realization that most everyone is surprisingly immature and yet that’s what’s interesting.
