They give no reason to trust their prison guards they’re trying to escape from (which implies distrust) yet they’re also believing them to give the plot something to try hanging on. But at least one of them is *described* as logical…but not logical enough to question anything?

Author enforced ignorance, hiding reasons from MC and readers…irritating and honestly feels damn lazy. Maybe it’s all a dream 🙄

I’m on chapter 26, and I’m still so annoyed at the main point of conflict between them all. From the moment they all come back together I’ve thought, “Are these guys really so stupid that they would just 100% believe that weak tale their torturers told them about the failed escape attempt? And never even consider that their jailers were the liars?” I really can’t get over the stupidity.
