An excellent suspense read if that’s what you’re going on for, but suffers on my personal preference scale because the conflict becomes increasingly external (us—couple established vs them—secondary, underdeveloped bad guys). Interest faded out at 62%. Best suspense-romance type for me is when the conflict between the couple is strongly held throughout the conflict with the external enemy too.
