Status Updates From Nous étions le sel de la mer

Uhhhhh things are getting out of hand. A woman loved by half the village? Death on night of wedding? Cancer? Hmmmm I’m suddenly feeling otherwhelmed with what’s going on.

Also a bit underwhelmed with Catherine’s grief. She came to find her mother dead. But it’s as if she doesn’t care?

The inspectors view is really well written. The character is so engaging, you really feel his frustrations, his pain, he wants to do well but his mind is elsewhere and as a new guy in the area people are not cooperating. You feel a deep level of empathy for this guy and also just want to kick him and tell him to toughen up.

Comment: beautiful writing. Loving it so far. Depth of characters and atmosphere
