As far as the storyline, I still think the time jump is being worked in pretty well. All of the characters are developing in a decent manner. Even the romance is developing in a decent manner. It doesn’t feel like the characters are just faking their enemies to lovers trope which is a plus is my book cuz I can’t stand a poor enemies to lovers. This read doesn’t feel too exciting but I wouldn’t put it down.

So much has happened in the last couple chapters that’s it’s honestly kind of harder to keep track of each moment. The new plot points and key moments, while sometimes do feel rushed and brought on abruptly, actually do eventually tie together. Very few of them feel like they get dropped and if they do, it’s in a subtle way which is bearable.

All the stuff with the prophets and Minea kind of feels like it’s being thrown in there with the story of Idalia, Braizen and the bandits. It’s not necessarily poorly written because it does read pretty decently, but I feel like something about the way that Nuri and the Idunn are being worked into the story just isn’t really connecting for me. I did enjoy Idalia’s visions of the past and how they played out.

Honestly with how easy miscommunication goes in these prehistoric times I wouldn’t to be surprised if it gets revealed that Queen Revna’s death was genuinely an accident. I don’t really know how Lachlin is gonna come into play in the present day but I’m kinda still rooting for Braizen and Idalia🤷🏾‍♀️

Not gonna lie, I’m not really rocking with Nuri. I was really rocking with the direction the story was going before she showed up and now I feel the path these characters are on is too open ended with her. We’ll see if she changes my mind but I don’t really like her character or where she’s taking the other characters as well

I’ve actually been really loving the flash back chapters but it kind of feels like the present chapters are holding back some type of important lore drop that’s gonna shift everything. I’m mostly interested in seeing how things changed from the flashbacks to the present and what happened to drive Idalia and Braizen apart

I feel like I was following the story well and then the end of chapter 8 just took the most confusing turn. But we’ll see how it turns out I guess

Side note: her dad is hilarious though, the way he’s acting out and celebrating her being able to marry this king 😭 aaahhh I’m so excited for a good story that’s gonna make me laugh 😆

Right off the bat I can say that I’m not gonna have a hard time getting through first person pov. I can smell an insufferable fmc from a mile away and there’s absolutely no stench over here which I’m so grateful for. And so far the two main male characters are actually very intruiging and don’t really seem insufferably obnoxious either. We’ve only barely met them, but I have high hopes for them too.

I’m so excited to read this book. I love Kaven’s skits on TikTok and I just know I’m gonna love this series whether the writing is good or not. I not even worried about bad writing like from other books I’ve dnf’d. Right now I feel like this writing is pretty much basic story telling. Nothing spectacular but it gets the point across well enough. The book does have a fast paced start though
