The concept of alphabetisation and literacy taking over from the oral tradition creating a distinct knock on effect in our experience of the world is just beautiful, genuinely profound. That words, when written, cause us to make distinctions from the greater fabric of alive things, that they make us see our bodies as ends of our selfhood, and the rest of the world as separate. Illuminating.
