Status Updates From Sleepy Valley

Chapter 27. What a great chapter! Nick and Gabry are married. Trudy marries Wade. They are having new homes built. Vincent and Pearl are keeping company. Nick is enjoying his new teaching job.

Chapter 25. Gabry and Nick go out for dinner at a Japanese restaurant. Sounds fun! I’m sure there was more but that’s what left the biggest impression on me.

Chapter 24. Nick got a job as the head coach of the Fighting Bears and a teaching position! You know what that means! Now he can propose to Gabry!

Chapter 23. The group gets together for dinner. A fun time. Then they go and see the firefly show. Sounds amazing and it appears Trudy has found her man.

Chapter 22. The foursome are learning lessons in this vacation. Vincent knows where he would like to have his wife’s ashes scattered. Trudy knows what she wants in life and in her next relationship…and has met someone new. Nick realizes that God keeps putting people in his life that he is blessing.

Chapter 21. The foursome are on vacation together in Gatlinburg. The interactions are cute and it reminds me of past trips I’ve taken there.

Chapter 17. Gabry came to Chicago to be with Nick. Melissa is out of rehab and into an apartment that Nick and Gabry set up for her. Laura is telling Nick he should pop the question. They are both headed back to Sleepy Valley.

Chapter 7. Nick visits with Melissa in the treatment center. She is genuinely in need and addicted to coccaine but also delusional and manipulative. She convinces him to stay and help her for a week. Everyone in Sleepy Valley misses him. He stays in touch by phone.

Chapter 14. Mom is helping at the diner. Dad is helping at the store. Josh is helping at the store. Trudy is home but unable to work for several weeks. Nick and Gabry are getting closer.

Chapter 13. Trudy has surgery for her cancer. The three friends wait at the hospital. The pastor and his wife also come to the hospital. The whole town gathers at Trudy’s Diner. It’s a success! Everyone is relieved and rejoicing! Trudy says the surgeon is cute…and single.

Chapter 12. Loving this book. The 4 friends are just getting closer and closer and giving such good support to one another. Having dinner together, Nick’s parents visiting, Trudy sharing cancer concerns, Nick and Gabry growing in love, and preparing for a reopening of the store. All good stuff!

Chapter 11. Melissa, the ex-wife, shows up at Nick’s. He tells her to hit the road as do Trudy and Gabry. She does leave but indicates she has one more trick up her sleeve to get Nick back.

Chapter 10. The gathering is good. Trudy wears a very revealing top. Nick kisses Gabry goodnight when he drops her off. Vincent invites Nick to work at his store.

Chapter 9. Nick and Gabry. That seems to be happening! They go to the Cove and have a great day exploring, taking pictures, taking a nap on a blanket, and then having dinner together. They also have a good convo about the existence of God.

Chapter 8. Well both ladies are interested in Nick. Trudy has spoken out about it to Gary saying he may be the one she has been waiting for. Nick has chosen a church…the same as Trudy attends. He’s received invitations from Trudy and the pastor to join groups and serve.

Chapter 7. Well the four friends are now into hosting dinner parties and rotating Saturday nights. Chester has been checked out by the vet and is ok but just has a deformed bone in his leg. Both ladies are interested in Nick.

Chapter 6. The friends get together for a picnic at Nicks. Nick names the pup Chester after a Gunsmoke character. Nick is trying to be friends with both women and Vincent. So far, it’s working.

Chapter 5. Well Trudy feels bad about being so forward. Nick got a dog. And he’s planned a cookout and invited new friends.

Chapter 7. So Merry did go to the meetup and saw that Jay was Jayson Bright and so she did not introduce herself and left! They talked online afterward and she admitted being there and told him it would not work out for them.

Chapter 4. Aww…Nick and Trudy have had some time together. Trudy is all in but Nick is thinking it’s too soon after his divorce. He’s really enjoying the peace of his new mountain home.

Chapter 3. The characters and the dialogue in this book are wonderful. I especially like Trudy and her banter with her customers.

Chapter 2. Nick is getting to know Vincent as they went to dinner together. He attended the church where Trudy goes and seems to like it.

Chapter 1. Good introduction to the story and characters. Nick moves to Sleepy Valley from Chicago after his divorce. His wife cheated on him. His church was not supportive. The people of Sleepy Valley are very nice and welcoming.
