almost done with the book, finished chapter on periodic table and discovering other noble gases! very creative of that guy to figure out all of the other noble gases are on the air & to test for that

also learned about history of vacuums, mmHg being from the experiment with mercury and how barometers were invented from this, the air pump & Otto doing a demonstration in front of the king with 16 horses (16 hp) pulling on the metal parts sealed by a vacuum lol

Learned about airships, the guy that put 44 balloons to his chair and then got arrested for violating aviation law, oxygen being very reactive, the crystals inside metal alloys strengthening them, hydrogen airships, history of ships and sailing,

now learning about pneumatics & the valve that made that possible!!!! as an engineer, i feel like every college level mechanical and chemical engineer should read this, it would make them appreciate engineering so much more lol

Really loving this book!!!! Learned about steam, whipcream, scuba tanks, how O2 is made typically (pulling in air to cryogenic tank & liquifying the O2 from air due to boiling point) & in countries without resources (using zeolites/pressure swing adsorption to adsorb N2 and separate O2 from air). Really loving learning things that pertain to my job as an engineer & the chemistry in general🥰
