This book is showing us a lot more of who Mercy is and what she is capable of, also a bit more of her past, which has helped make her what she is today. I hope this book will flesh out Adam a little more, he is a vague character, not all that likable. Samuel seems broken and sad, he needs something or someone to live for, and Stephan is interesting and complex in this book, too.

This book starts with a bang. Mercy’s vampire “friend” is cashing in on a favor owed, and puts Mercy in the path of a demonic sorcerer. Not a spoiler to say she survived because this series is about 14 books long. 😆

this whole series is basically based on that one article about alpha wolves that has been debunked over and over again, but Mercy is a sympathetic heroine so I'm just going to pretend I don't see all the gender role bullshit

Yah the love square and the repetitive information like how wolves use body language got really redundant and and annoying at points. 4 stars. I also hated the misogyny.
