So this going to be one of those books where the adults suck. Good to know.

It's irritating when an adult character doesn't take into account the emotions of a child they're responsible. First he put the kid at risk, the creature he sent them looking for made the kid's stuff fall, which made him yell, he let her believe this was all his fault, then didn't care that the item the kid lost in the process doing what he said was very important to this child.

Trusted Adult: would you be so good as to display great athleticism you may not be capable of, as well as put your life at risk, please.

Ah, the tentacles are so kind of antagonist that probably becomes an ally.

I think Gram and I once watched a nature documentary that had a short segment on them. Though I think they just said cuttlefish instead of giving them a proper name.

A Pharaoh Cuttlefish. I love it when animals use things like disguises. It reminds us that we're really nothing special in the animal kingdom.

Green sea turtles can live up to 70 years old. "I won't be around forever." Okay, but you're probably going to outlive MC, so kinda a weird thing to say.

This would be great to read with a child. You could order seaweed chips so they can eat the same thing as Ember and try something new, go to your local beach or watering hole and pick up trash like talked about on pg 38, make pair airplanes, go to your nearest aquarium and learn about ocean life, or watch a sea turtle documentary.
