Status Updates From The Glass Château: A Spellb...

I don’t know that the author meant for the twists to be shocking - I guessed them very early on in the story - but I do like that. Nothing was truly hidden.

"All drawn to the heat…as if it could heal what you have done, and what has been done to you. As if fire were some kind of truth…The only truth here is that if you get too close, you burn. Yet we cannot resist getting closer. And I'm as much a fool for it as all of you."
He started to leave, but paused in the doorway. "We think we’re artists here, but no. We're only... we're only a society of moths."

This book has a lot of humanity to it, and I like that. It really puts you in a possible pair of shoes for that particular time in history.

“Where are you leading me?”
She continued pulling. “I am taking the warrior to bed.”

I like that the dialogue is interesting, almost philosophical. It drives the story instead of slowing it down or stating the obvious for the reader’s benefit.
