God bless Atlanta for having the Black femme scene that it does. These are the most beautiful, high-maintenance, high-femme queer women I’ve ever experienced in my life. Those online “femininity coaches” should take notes from them.

Finally, we arrive in Atlanta. The best queer scene in the US in my opinion, but, holy shit, it’s intense. My dad lived in Midtown for years being one of the only straight people in his apartment complex, just crazy insane amazing place.

Everything’s bigger in Texas and that includes lesbian bars.

OH YEAH! MIDWEST LOVE! Go to Southern IL tho, it may cure you of this notion. Such a strange place culturally, not really midwestern or southern. I feel like it has its own queer identity as a location and I’d love to see more queer people write about it.

This is really making me think about the current queer infighting about straight people at queer bars. Every single bar owner so far has said they want their bar to be an inclusive space open to everyone. Not to mention, coming into queer spaces is how people discover themselves and their own identities. Idk, maybe too woke opinion

This author is a lot more negative about Mormonism than the previous author from Real Queer America. Interesting how they diverge, maybe it’s because the other author was in it longer.

This is the second book I’ve read from a queer ex Mormon in the past two days.

The idea that lesbian bars are closing because we don’t need them anymore due to being more integrated into society is very hopeful to me. Also, I NEED to go to Wild Side West and see that garden.

When the book starts out with a lesbian married to a trans man, I know im in the right place amongst people who get it. The understanding of queerness as a community and lived experience rather than just sexual identity reassures me that this book won’t be annoying
