Dearest authors, snakes don’t have eyelids. They cannot close or open their eyes. They cannot wink or blink. Snakes have a clear scale over their eye to protect it, but no eyelids, not even a nictitating membrane. It’s literally one of the things that differentiates snakes from lizards. Their eyes are always “open.” Please stop describing them closing or opening their eyes. Thank you.
