The audiobook conveys the tone, the characters feel so real.Jacob is calculating.Evan was plainly disrespecting & acts entitled. Entitlement doesn’t work.Books are books,some get read & get all types of attention & have varying goals that can be predicted and cannot.Jacob recognizes that.I had a lot of aha moments and I was hooked.I wanted to know. The pacing, the plot, tension, & everything was utterly fascinating

Jacob seems like a caring,practical, passionate, professional writer He sees the great in people but he notices the jerks & behaviors He doesn’t like to be slighted/disrespected. He’s resourceful, considerate. And he actually knows books, the industry, the genres. He analyzes the excerpt that Evan Parker/ Parker Evan submitted It was a nuanced coming of age piece but the guy told him his work is perfect-yea right

This is an incredible examination into the life of writers. How he ended up in this position & the writing was thoroughly fascinating & touches upon a very grounded take on everything within the author & book industry. The way that the commentary illustrates a fascinating story. The audiobook is in fact very engaging. Jacob is truly trying to get a grip on his work. His character’s soul & yet similar - Evan hotshot
