Status Updates From Star Wars: Death Troopers

Meh. I thought this was kind of boring. It's not bad on an objective level, but I wasn't very interested in it. Something like the Han Solo Trilogy is terrible, but it keeps me going due to wanting to see how bad it will get. This was just boring.
Too many chance encounters and deus ex machina type bullshit by the end. I don't think it ended very satisfactorily.

Considering they are on a Star Destroyer with literally thousands of these zombies, there's been far too many chance encounters with now-dead characters that the alive characters recognize. It's way too convenient. Too silly.

Oh, hey, finally some explanations. I wondered if there were ever going to be any. Of course, it's fairly generic science experiment stuff.

The problem with having Han and Chewie in a story like this is that it severely undercuts the horror element. You know they aren't going to die, or even be harmed in any significant way. Which is one of the main things that horror has going for it - imminent danger for all of the characters.

Gotta say, switching between PoV character just so you can delay giving us answers for even longer is pretty damn annoying.

Seriously? Han and Chewie are in this? Ok, this is getting silly now. Also, I can't believe Crispin neglected to mention their time on the zombie prison ship in her trilogy! /s

I don't mind this, but I'm also not terribly interested in it. Not really my jam. But I'll finish it; no reason not to.

Seems like a pretty standard and generic space horror story - derelict ship, crew is mysteriously gone, no sign of why, something sinister possibly lurking around each corner. I wonder if this started as a different thing that then was changed into a Star Wars story.

Next in the EU timeline is this. I know absolutely nothing about this. There's a smattering of latter day standalone novels like this one that I just never crossed paths with, because I was deep in stuff like Legacy of the Force and just wasn't paying attention to anything else in the EU. I actually wasn't going to read this originally, but then I decided it's not like I have a reason NOT to read it, so here I go.
