Weird nondramatic ending — Alex kills his traitorous mate, he marries a human chosen mate, then Aine and Damien finish their bites/marks, but close on setting up her office for a job she never expressed interest in the whole book. What? No epilogue. I was leaning 4 stars in the back half but not close enough. I’ll try 3.75, letting it round to 4.

Perfect redemption and healing writing. So far Glad they didn’t just wash over her new trauma.

Well shoot. What is it about her getting tortured by Owen after being kidnapped, and him still rescuing her even though she’s destroyed, makes me like him now?

He hasn’t earned this but yet she’s thinking like this: “I’m desperate for affection, but I know I’m going to regret this. It’s only a matter of time before Damien lets his true colors show.”

This asshole can’t be sweet just because he husband hurt her. No.
“I want to snap back and remind him that he’s the one who called me pathetic for wanting to have a relationship with him in the first place. It’s unfair of him to treat me like shit and then expect me to turn around and plead for his attention the second he decides he’s willing to give me a chance.”
