The previous few chapters (Captivity, Escape, Portsmouth) must have hit so very very differently if you know English history better than I do and recognized that this minor 'fictional' character was a real historical person remembered for having done an assassination. I learned a thing!

J’ai toujours adoré les grands classiques, même s’il y a quelques auteurs auxquels je n’ai jamais réussi à accrocher (Jules Verne, désolée...). Alexandre Dumas a un style que j’aime bien, c’est vivant, ça se lit bien pour l’instant. D’Artagnan est un vrai gamin🤣 je l’adore. J’en ai encore trop peu vu des autres pour me forger une opinion sur eux et déterminer mon favori. À voir

I am immensely enjoying this fictional clandestine affair between the Duke of Buckingham and the Queen of France because in real life the Duke was gay and in a relationship with the King of England. But Dumas does paint a dramatic portrait of star-crossed lovers.
