"She almost certainly heard Patrick explaining (to her, a pharmacist) how antidepressants work and also (to her, a homeowner) the best way to buy a house."

'You look... awesome,' said Leo.
'You do!' said Gloria. 'And it's so nice to see that dress! I haven't worn it since my great aunt' s funeral in 1995.'
'Thanks, Mum. I think.'

"It was all too much. Kylie should have tried something easier than looking after Gloria, like solving the homelessness crisis or mediating between North and South Corea."
It was nice of Gloria to remember in chapter 11 that Kylie won the award Junior Pharmacist of the Year which Kylie had forgotten.
"How dare they ask you to apply for your own job! Don't they know you were junior pharmacist of the year!" (29 %)

"So Kylie made her a tea. Black, two sugars.
'What do you call that?' Gloria said, when she saw it. 'You know how I take my tea.'
Kylie did know. For some reason behind her comprehension, she had made tea for Colin, which was absolutely infuriating. She vowed never to make black tea with two sugars for anyone, ever again. She stomped back to the kitchen and made another for Gloria: milk, no sugar."
