Status Updates From The Namesake

I wish the boy had appreciated his parents more (especially after knowing about his dad’s past) and didn’t have this same level of embarrassment over his Indian culture and ways of life. I get it, being an second-gen immigrant child. But also this narrative of immigrant children feeling ashamed at their parents is so boring now. I hope the story will get better & more nuanced & not fall into this overdone trope.

Finally decided to read it (watched the movie years ago and enjoyed it but then felt like that would ruin my experience of the book).
