This random book I just picked up is so far so good!!

“So, would you like to?” He looked completely lost. “What?” “Go to the work reception thingy. With me.” Jenny patted his arm. “Keep up, would you?” “Me?” “Well, I’d bring Rosie but you should see what she does to buffet tables. Also, she always drinks too much and tells the boss off. Lots of damage control the next day, you know.” Rosie is her dog lol. Jenny is hilarious! I love her already.

Gotta love a hero who jerks off to the heroine and he hasn't even met her....

Deteriorated fast into cheese and disbelief... everything--relationship development, healing from immediate and past trauma for both--happened like "let's wrap this shit up in hearts and bubbles and blow kisses." It was an unsettling pace. I'm not adverse to trying another book by this author, though, because the emotions were so visceral and there were moments of captivating writing.

I'm gonna read to the end, though, because there are only forty more pages.... That alone tells me it will be truncated.... Let's see if the author can pull something good out of this developing shit squall--there's hope! Her prose is so easy to read.

Spoiler alert! I wasn't liking the insta-romance-insta-love sorta thing, but I was rolling with it because the emotions and prose just flowed so well, but the moment the one-dimensional (I was hoping for more) villain was conveniently killed off, the story started sliding into the land of the eye-rolls and groans of disappointment. Pushed it over the edge, it did.

"He’d spent his teen years just trying to stay alive. He’d managed that, but corsages and high school dances and sex had all fallen by the wayside." Yup, know all about that. Sometimes, when I talk to teenagers or YA of the comfortable western world, I'm like, wtf, I don't even... I can't even.... All those classic "teen" experiences"... Nope, too busy survivin' when I was a teen/YA.

Hot damn, this is easy breezy fun reading. I am compelled. To read more about both mcs.

Oh thanks god! I picked a book I do not hate! Actually I love it! I really should be sleeping, but it is too good!
