1. Not sure why Paine whitewashes the tension between Clemens and Clara. He fingerpaints it when he might have used the whole brush to better effect. 2. The last part of the book, which is made up of Paine's personal acquaintance with Mark Twain, really could have used some editing; he'll start telling a story and then interrupt himself to give the background.
