Day one: Song of Myself complete. The American dialogue, the universal experience. In SoM, it feels like Whit has you in a rowboat. You look left to one shore, you see nature. You look right to the other shore, and see industry. Back left and you see freedom. Right again and see subjugation. Left once more, you see life. And right, death. All at once, impartially true, every inch of land, every life lived, contained.
