Status Updates From The Other Side of Blue

This book is very much a lazy read. It's the kind of book you would read while on vacation. What intrigues me is the constant power struggle between Cyan and her mother, and a clueless Kammi caught in the middle of just wanting to fit in. To me, she and Cyan have more in common than they realize. Cyan simply wants answers about her father's mysterious death but her mother remains aloof and shrouded in secrets.

My current thoughts on the characters Cyan- cold Cyan's Mother- mean Kammi- sweet but immature Mayur- creepy

I'm finding the writing quite soothing now. It has picked up the pace a bit.

The highlight of the last chapter I read? Cyan sells sea glass to a tourist shop. Ugh. This is so boring.

Good writing, but SO SLOW! No plot- at least that I can see. The setting is dull and uninteresting. The characters are flat and unlikable. The author has done nothing to pull the reader in.

Kammi found out why Cyan wouldn't let her paint the boat. This happened while painting with her mom. They got into a fight, however they forgot about it quickly. At the bonfire, Saco seemed to take a liking in Kammi, as did Loco with Cyan. When Kammi followed the boys into the water for a night swim, Cyan's mom got mad and the 3 left. They are planning to go to Mt. Christoffel for a hike with Mr. Bindas on Saturday.

Kammi is an absolute perfectionist. She tries to be polite, she's almost the opposite of Cyan. Mayur invited them over to his pool, and as Cyan described he was very much of a show-off. Possibly because his family is very wealthy. At the pool, he invited both girls to a beach bonfire. Kammi seemed excited but Cyan isn't impressed with Mayur's usual behavior. It seems as if Cyan is getting jealous of Kammi and Martia.
