This was supposed to be a sweet little rom-com Hallmark movie palate cleanser. NOPE! The MMC has me calling him a sweet little spice gumdrop and ordering mint jelly leaves off the Zon, and then a little girl’s story has me bawling. Within moments that spicy gumdrop comes back and I’m gasping with the FMC and mentally screaming “Don’t. Stop!”

PS I love the take in Macy’s “grumpy.” She’s not mean or spiteful, it’s a temporary state because she’s wounded, which makes her so much more lifelike to me as a reader. The grumpy in grump x sunshine is often a little flat but I like an origin story. How fun!

MATTEO AND MACY! Omg Matteo, after my Puerto Rican heart, what glorious golden retriever energy! All the talk of my culture’s food is so heartwarming. And the way Matteo talks about his family ❤️ And oooof Macy, girl! Her anxiety about doing the wrong thing is VERY relatable, especially when someone asks you question. This is glorious.
