Status Updates From Moment on the Edge, A: 100 ...

I’m going to skip the first 80+ years, and start with 1989 (book was published in 2002).

Finished Joyce Carol Oates : Murder-two. Disappointing. A bunch of crazies.

Gillian Linscott : A scandal in winter. The title rings a bell ? Well, it's a Sherlock Holmes story. The ending was a let down, however.

Lia Matera : The river mouth. That was weird. Not a crime story exactly, a cult ? Weird.

JA Vance : Death of a snowbird. I don't really get what this story is doing here ?...

Wendy Hornsby : New moon and rattlesnakes. Efficient, though not captivating.

Carolyn Wheat : "Ghost station". Not much of a crime story, rather an AA one. With Irish cops. Of course.

19th story - Barbara Paul : Jack be quick. Jack the Ripper ! I really enjoyed that story ! As to the victims being all prostitutes, please refer to the excellent non-fiction "The five" by Hallie Rubenhold.

18th story - Sharyn Mccrumb : A predatory woman. And predatory she was, indeed !

17th story - Kristine Kathryn Rusch : The young shall see visions and the old dream dreams. The name of the author looked familiar, but I must have read some of her Star trek novels ! Strange to see her in that anthology. Crime story ? Not so much. Did the old woman tell the truth or was her mind running the woods ?...

16th story - Sara Paretski : The case of the Pietro Andromache. Not bad.
17th story - Nancy Pickard : Afraid all the time. Very good, might have ended a bit sooner ?... But very good.

14th story : Jemima Shore at the sunny grave by Antonia Fraser. Not my favourite. Forgettable.

13th story, Marcia Muller : Wild mustard. Nice, even if a bit formulaic.

12th story : "Sweet baby Jenny" by Joyce Harrington. I truly enjoyed this one, Jenny is a great character. How come I've never heard of Joyce Harrington ?!

Read the 11th story, "The irony of hate" by Ruth Rendell, and really enjoyed it !

I just finished the 10th story (Country lovers) by Nadine Gordimer and it was at the same time sad, predictable and too short.

8th story - Nedra Tyre : a nice place to stay. Not bad at all but a bit grim.
9th story - Christianna Brand : Clever and quick. Twists and turns. Good ending but not really m'y style (old actor doing anything for fame).

7th story - Margery Allingham : Monet to burn. The beginning was interesting but the ending was kind of a let down for me.

6th story, Dorothy Salisbury Davis : The purple is everything - really enjoyed it ! Not really a mystery/crime, but a good story.
