This is ridiculous and I'm loving every second of it

Sometimes I forget how old this book is and get frustrated they don’t just email or text or search something online…oh yeah. Oops. Lol

Hahaha this is like Bourne Identity meets Hunt For Red October, but it's all slathered in the wildness of the '80s bodice rippers.

I know this book is vividly 1980s, but having the hero have been in Nam really changed how this feels. This hero is my dad’s age. Seriously. He was 20 in Nam and 38 in ‘87 so wow. I think I need to shift my while mindset with this book.

DNF this book is too dated for me to read in 2023. The MMC is an asshole. I don’t like assholes in current romances and I definitely don’t like them in older romances. And the beginning was boring and a huge info dump.

Okay I’m trying really hard to channel my inner 13 year old who swiped my mom’s old romance novels and not see this through the lens of the 2000s, but even in 1987 I just don’t see him bailing on a damsel in a distress of *his* making.

Thank you Twitter for bringing this book to my attention. This is a masterpiece.
