Status Updates From Bastard Out of Carolina

On chapter 10 of the audiobook. It's so damn good, but makes me so angry that I have to force myself to take breaks. So far I've gotten whiffs of Fried Green Tomatoes, Mockingbird, and Strawberry Girl for the heated southern vibe, but especially A Tree Grows in Brooklyn for the family, poverty, and the scrappy heroine coming of age. The way the characters drive this story is amazing... not one dud in the bunch.

Cracking into Katie’s favorite book we shall see how this goes
