Status Updates From Wheeling Motel

trying to finish up a few of my unfinished books including this collection of poetry, it is quiet and reflective although picking it up again I am reminded of its slight formality, the distance it holds the reader at, despite how lovely the words can be.

"Another Working Dawn": "And let's get one thing straight, they were never about. // Those lines, say, on stars: // the hell with the stars. // They were about perception of the stars. // He turned the covers back like a page that weighed ten pounds... But I ask you voice that is nowhere and everywhere-- // What did not in time become a source of suffering?" (3-4)

"I don't want to see a doctor/I want to kill a doctor." "It had to do with falling/ into the o/of devour, the i/in flight." “I know it’s hard to picture, but I myself was once twenty /years old for an entire year.”
