Avens discussion of the White Earth and the imaginal "moon," associated with "soul" and a ground for the spirit, reminds me of Steiner's etheric (a passive, cool principle) as opposed to his astral (hot and moving) and of Swedenborg's spiritual (associated with the moon and white), which is a ground for the celestial (associated with the sun and red).

Avens' description of "play" reminds me both of Steiner's circularity in the astral world (Initation, Eternity, and the Passing Moment) and Donna Williams description of looking "into" things and not "at" things (Nobody Nowhere).

Scenting is Swedenborgian perceptio.

Language is the Saying of what precedes the split of subject and object. Metaphor is trying to piece together a fractured unity.

"Scenting" is between mind and matter, between subject and object. It is the response of the heart, the image in itself, an instinct.
