I didn't really grow up with the movie, I think I watched it for the first time during covid, but this book is still giving me such nostalgia. The writing is giving you just what you need. He's a young boy, so of course there aren't a bunch of poetics and philosophy, it's just a boy experiencing things fairly straightforward. I miss books like this, honestly. Easy, good, fun reads that still have something to say.
