'There may be more people willing to report being raped, but there are also more behaviors classified as rape, more ways to become a rapist or molester than ever before. We think we're surrounded, but we've surrounded ourselves.'

This is a fascinating bastard. Place is clearly brilliant—the problem being that she seems to think she’s the smartest person in every room ever built. She’s quite repellently smarmy, but has legitimate concerns that should concern you too. Her pride in being an asshole is grating, especially as most shake that shit off by their mid-20s or so (that pernicious stripe of ego based around their own ‘brilliance’).

This is excellent, and her arguments should be engaged with by all of us.

But there can be no moral calculus of violence, not because violence is immoral, but because violence is not calculable. There is not a unit of violence (x) for which it can be said x+1>x ... the (x) of a violated infant is not equal to the (x) of the dead head of state.

Damn, this may prove to be a more difficult read than Women & Men... May not be able to get through a chapter without fits of seething rage. The farcical nature of "expert" psychiatric testimony. The DSM is such a load of bullshit. I already knew that, but now it seems DNA evidence isn't much better.
