Oh, no. To end the year with this level racism wasn't in my bingo card, but here we are. The plot is interesting and the writing of quality, but my goodness, Bram, you had a problem. It is no way of living to call people savage this much and to make so many ugly remarks on race. I want to know what happens, but the constant bigotry is so fucking annoying, Lovecraft had nothing on Dracula's dad.

REH’s overt and callous racism reared its ugly head in this chapter. Reminds me of the worst parts of HPL.

i bought this in a used bookstore with no info about it (it had a cool cover and sounded like a fun gothic mystery) . just started and am now looking at these reviews and oh god i don’t know if im gonna be able to finish this one …
