In case you ever had the idea that Jackson Pollock appeared out of nowhere willy-nilly, brandishing a drippy paintbrush, art historian Henry Adams is there to take you by the ear as he retraces the origins of Pollock's greatness. Looks like Michelangelo and the ancient Greeks may have had a hand in it. I'm really enjoying this book!

I'm really pleased to find this book. I had been wanting to read a biography of Thomas Hart Benton.

Enjoying this...full of interesting facts and enjoyable anecdotes about Benton, Pollock and their contemporaries...for example art critic Willard Huntington Wright, who summed up his life: "I've enjoyed the brandy. I only regret that I didn't drink more of it."
