Abandonment is the central fear in childhood. We fear it because of loss of mirroring and that is necessary for the survival of our identity. We also fear the grief we will feel when someone leaves us and the feeling of powerlessness. The sense of being smothered and not being able to defend ourselves may lead to a fear of engulfment.

Fear is the threshold guardian that protects you from entering a place that holds danger too terrible for your current level of strength. You might have to pull back and build your strength first.

Real love greatest feat is to accept the other's reality without the need to impose my own.

You may have learned to associate being isolated with not being okay. When they do not like me, they sent me away. Therefore when I am isolated I feel unliked and unlikable.
