I knew that this was written a while ago so I was a little skeptical, but it's been a really fascinating resource for knitting traditions around the world - I had no idea that there were such fundamental differences in the way people knit!

chapter 12 is about geometric designs in which a little section is given to argyle while the rest of the chapter is about basketweave and how to do it.

chapter 10 is about intarsia, I love doing intarsia which should be done flat and seamed. But the author believes that in order for it to be used in folk knitting that it has to be done in the round. I have not done research on folk sweaters to know if that is true or not but I am going to say that if you are knitting intarsia in the round it is no longer intarsia but some other type of stranded knitting.

chapter 9 is all about traditional color work in different countries. going in to great detail about different details that each country had in there sweaters and even speaks on some of the simular patterns.

chapter 8 talks but some basic changes that you can do to change the look of the sweater. making I pull over a cardigan or a vest instead. different button bands and necklines that you can do.

chapter five is all about techniques needed to make traditional sweaters. going in to detail about different Castors, bind offs, button holes, increases, decreases, how to make shortrows.

chapter four is all about knitting methods going in to great detail about eastern, western, and combinations knitting. Giving pros and cons to all three types.

I have finished capers one and two. chapter one is a simple run down on knitting history. Chapter two is all about fiber, yarn and gauge.
