Status Updates From Kiss Her Once for Me

I read so much now that I can’t afford a pity 4 star. This is a 3.5*. I’ll round up.

I haven’t enjoyed the final 20%. I don’t know if that makes it a 3*. Landing the ending of a book, where the author is looking to summarize the corrections made by the MC, looking to the future partnership with the other MC, is usually the least interesting part of a book. Redemption shouldn’t be a 12 page exercise in a 300+ page book. Growth should be earned. Or skipped. That’s a legitimate option too. Sigh.

Managed to hold up entertainment wise. Third act breakup killed the vibe sha. But I’m still willing to do 4* here.

I’m impressed that a romcom has been able to hold my attention this long. Over 2/3s of the way through. I’m still enjoying it. I thought I only enjoyed high stakes dramas. Lol. The antics are silly and the stakes are lazy. But it’s entertaining? I’m entertained.

This is a really charming book. But I read so much sapphic fiction that this really feels like a het romcom. Or maybe it’s the romcom genre that distinctly feels het. It’s a very enjoyable read but doesn’t feel sapphic. Lol.
