I know he's a minor character (like very minor) but how did Sir Humphrey Bullard go to Mr. Humphrey in less than a few paragraphs?

Ugh. How is that in a spinster that becomes a Mrs. within a few pages? I'm finding while I can generally enjoy Laurens book as a good way to enjoy some free time, I'm rather annoyed with the number of mistakes I'm finding. #OCDReaderProblems

I'm baffled as to how the main hero could have already had a title he inherited from his father and then inherited from his uncle. What did his grandfather do, find a way to split off a minor title and give it to his younger son (Max's dad) ??????????
