Baruch is more interesting historically than the Wisdoms of Whoever
Letter of Jeremiah’s added a new idiom to my lexicon - “like a scarecrow in a cucumber bed”
Saving the additions to Esther and Daniel for my Big Bible Read-Through but counting it toward reading the book 🤫

The Maccabees are p interesting so far!
That’s my update thank you for reading !

Ancient wisdom literature is BOOOORINNNNG 🗣️
Same old same old over and over! And it feels like an ancient version of Pop Psychology Instagram pages

I wish there was ancient women’s wisdom literature. Would love to hear how ancient women saw themselves and their proverbs and what they praised God for, if anything

Tobit is fun - you can feel how much later it’s written very palpably but it’s ~fun~. Named demons and angels put themselves in the story! Que hellenestique!
Judith is also fun in its story telling
There is essentially a superhero montage of shots of her getting ready for the battle but it’s her getting dolled up to get the enemy commander on her side and to top it off her name is just “Judean Lady” ❤️
