Status Updates From Drawing Birds (Draw Books)

this is not a dig at this specific book, and I may be speaking from casual hobbyist ignorance, but it just annoys me so much when art books are like 'NEVER draw from photographs. ALWAYS draw from life.' Like yeah you miss some info about how the subject looks in motion and your results might look more static, but the level of detail you get makes up for it imo, and the insistence just feels gatekeepy to me.

yet another bird drawing book that suggests drawing dead birds you find. I understand the idea, but, first of all, how are you suppose to just find dead birds all over the place, and, secondly, I refuse because it would make me sad. (at least it wasn't like another one of this type of book that I've read that suggested asking your friend with an aviary (!) for their dead birds...)
