I have a special affinity for food, especially for food that people love. Pie is such a food. The flaky crust, the oozing filling, the warm kitchen and the wonderful buttery smell from an oven all provide a comfort, iconically American. I picked this up off the library shelf and have found a woman who laments the dearth of homemade pie in diners that are not commercial. It's worth the read, plus there's recipes!
