I’m learning a lot. I had no idea what “sneaking dead soldiers” meant. Lots of 70s cultural references. Oscar is a SciFi / Fantasy guy, a Dominican, & is described like this, “Could write in Elvish, could speak Chakobsa, could differentiate between a Slan, a Dorsai, and a Lensman in acute detail, knew more about the Marvel Universe than Stan Lee, and was a role-playing fanatic.”

So far it’s slow going because I have to stop to look up words: “Perhaps if like me he’d been able to hide his otakuness . . .”

I recommend reading digitally with online dictionary due to Dominican slang & spanish. Some words new to me are decipherable based on context, but not all. I did watch a YouTube video to learn about the lively “perrito dance” young Oscar mastered.

I’m keeping iphone handy!
