Status Updates From The Castle

Okay, so he’s kind of done collecting life stories now. He went back to the inn to talk to Klamm and met a new character. Everyone here thinks he’s useless no matter what job he’s doing; if he wasn’t engaged to Frieda, I bet they’d just send him away.

“‘Semi-official, and the memorandum itself is only semi-official’” (Kafka 101). That is literally the whole plot of this book; any person of authority that he wants to talk to is not actually technically official—even the mayor—because the people in the castle are the only officials or something.
