The final (long) essay looks to be Hughes projecting his "everything is mythic symbolism" view of all literature on Coleridge in the same way he did with Shakespeare. Not sure I can cope with 90p of that. I may quit if it gets too much.

Interesting discussion of how poetry (or any literature, really) relies on a common "mythology" between author and reader: the wider your intended audience the less you can rely on unexplained symbols or specific facts to be meaningful or comprehensible. Hughes uses the example of a wren and its behaviour not being common knowledge to urban dwellers, even in countries where wrens nest.
